Tips Kewangan Houseman - Langkah Ketiga

BismiLLAHirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamualaikum w.b.t.

Balance from previous post: RM2887.

When you first received your salary, one of the most common advice is to set aside a portion of it for savings.

Ada yang kata - simpan dulu sebelum belanja.

Sebab nanti terlebih belanja pula ;D

But in our situation, I listed all important expenses first (previous posts) because I don't want to have to withdraw the "supposedly" saved money.

After we know the balance of the salary, my husband put aside:

RM 350 - in Tabung Haji (neither of us had went for our Umrah/Hajj yet)
RM 1025 - in ASBF
RM 345 - in the bank account for car loan.

We set aside RM 345 every month to use it specifically for car purposes (changing tires, services, insurance, road tax renewal). This is really helpful because at the end of the day, you won't have to fork out elsewhere when you need it.

Balance: RM2887-RM350-RM1025-RM345 = RM1167.

These are what I consider as savings. We do not withdraw from TH or ASBF and we only withdraw from "car savings" when we needed it and leave the rest.

As stated above, the balance after

1st step - Priority
2nd step - Responsibility
and
3rd step - Saving

is RM1167 (not this exact amount every month - sometime it will fluctuate +- RM100).

The balance we used it freely for:

1. Food and drinks.
2. Gas.
3. Entertainment.
4. Self-care.

I just let my husband spend the balance of his salary without any restriction because he already paid for his priorities, responsibilities and has savings too.

I know some people has a limit of how much to spend on food etc but being a houseman, with 12+ hours per day in the hospital and maybe 4 days off in a month, being able to eat whatever you might be the only leisure you get.

Basically this is a based-on-experience guide/tips on how to manage a houseman salary, do take note that this tips mostly apply to singles/couples and not for a family.

Thank you for reading ~
